The University of North Carolina’s first-ever black scholarship athlete, former shooting guard Charlie Scott was true to his billing as he was lauded with this prestigious Anthony J. McKevlin Award in 1970. Bestowed annually upon the Atlantic Coast Conference’s outstanding athlete, the honor is named for the former sports editor of the Raleigh News and Observer. Measuring 12x9, the handsome wooden plaque features a gold-colored metallic plate on which a text legend and image of Scott appear. There are minor nicks and surface scratches on both the plaque and metallic portions. This is a coveted and appropriate prize from a conference known for its hoops dominance. LOA signed by Charlie Scott.
