Supplanting the New York Yankees as baseball’s most dominant team, the Philadelphia Athletics powered their way to three successive American League pennants from 1929 through 1931, with a Hall of Fame cast that included Foxx, Cochrane, Simmons and Grove. Under the guidance of Connie Mack, those A’s earned World Series titles in ’29 and ’30, but were felled in seven games in the 1931 showdown, the franchise’s last Fall Classic appearance until the Oakland A’s returned to the spotlight 41 years later. Encapsulated and Graded VG 3 by PSA, this 1931 World Series Game 6 ticket stub in one of nine graded with only four graded higher. Issued at St. Louis’ Sportsman’s Park, this “Upper Deck Reserved” voucher features printed event and seating details, as well and ornate finery and the facsimile signature of Cardinals President Sam Breadon. The unusual design also showcases portrait likenesses of Breadon and Cardinals skipper Gabby Street on the reverse. In Game 6, Lefty Grove downed Paul Derringer for the second time in nine days to give the Athletics an 8-1 triumph and force a Game 7. With nice colors, sharp edges and a clean admission tear at the perforation, this October prize presents even nicer than the technical assessment suggests.
