After tenures as the Class A affiliate to multiple National League teams, the Cedar Rapids club signed on to mentor St. Louis Cardinals prospects from 1965 through 1972. This vintage warm-up jacket was worn during that era by one of those big league aspirants. The white wool short-sleeve button-down garment features a Cardinals logo embroidered to the left breast, “CARDINALS” arched atop the back in red twill and “9” sewn to the left shoulder in like fashion. Within the collar a vintage “Fitzharris Athletic” label is accompanied by a hanger and size “42” tag. Solid wear.
Red-white-and-black striped stretch ribbed cotton lines the collar and sleeve endings. The garment is all original with no repairs or alterations, though the hanger within the collar is ripped. During the referenced era, notable players on that team included: Pedro Borbon, Nate Colbert, Jim Dwyer, Bob Forsch, Larry Herndon, Jerry Mumphrey, Bill Plummer, Ken Reitz, Jerry Reuss and ted Simmons.
