True, New York Yankee performers have long been the target of shutterbugs on diamonds from coast to coast. The telling images in these (3) vintage Type I photographs are seldom seen but readily recognizable. Includes: 1936-1939 (2) 14x11 sepia-toned photos taken at the club’s St. Petersburg, Florida spring training facility. One shows DiMaggio swinging during an exhibition and one is a smiling group pose of (5) in which Gehrig and DiMaggio are side by side. Each has a vintage “Dispatch Photo News Service, Inc.” logo in the lower right corner; J. DiMaggio an 8x10 black-and-white action photo with DiMaggio’s facsimile signature as it appeared on the original negative. All present nicely with wrinkles inherent to newsroom handling and mounting remnants on the reverse.
