Assembled in its Chicago birthplace (albeit at the North Side venue) for the 14th installment of the Mid-Summer Classic, (30) members of the “host” National League squad signed their likenesses in this well-preserved program issued at Wrigley Field that afternoon. Executed in black or blue ballpoint, the pennings average (“8”) potency and include: Blackwell, Branca, Brecheen, Cavaretta, Chapman (coach), Cooper, Dyer (manager), Edwards, Elliott, Gustine, Haas, Kurowski, Marion, Marshall, Masi, Miller, Mize, Munger, Musial, Ott (coach), Pafko, Reese, Rowe, Sain, Slaughter, Spahn, Stanky, Verban, D. Walker and H. Walker. The 12-page program presents (EX) with unmarked scoring grids. Full photo LOA from JSA. More on our website.
This is the most complete representation possible for this event. As mentioned in the catalog description, the players have signed their likenesses on the appropriate pages. Not pictured, however, were Kurowski and Reese, yet they still signed (as did Elliott and Miller, the men they replaced due to injury).
Note: the JSA LOA errantly states that there are (29) autographs when, in fact, there are (30).
